Default Mysterious race between '94 Integra GS-R and '97 Prelude

Ok, here's the deal: I've had my '94 GSR (short air intake off ebay, decent muffler) tuned to PROBABLY (not sure) somewhere around 14.9-14.8 at best. I ran a 15.2 prior to tuning. A buddy of mine drives a '97 prelude with an h22a4 (usdm) motorand a short air intake (also off ebay). We raced from a roll in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, as well as from a stop...... he beats me from low rpm roll (2000-4500) but anywhere past five grand I pull ahead. I was somewhat disappointed with my tune, seeing as how I can feel a pretty decent horsepower gain, but when I race the lude (my rival) nothing has changed with the tune. It's the same as it was without it. Is there anything at all that would sufficiently (if not dramatically) increase my power from 2000-4000 rpms? Feedback appreciated.

4-2-1 header, CAI rather than short ram, and maybe a different exhaust? It all depends on what RPM range the modifications create power, but you want to get stuff that creates power in the same range, otherwise they aren't as sufficient.

The parts I mentioned above create low end power, where as 4-1 header, SRI, etc creates top end power. Hope this helps. If all else fails, strap on a 30 shot of nitrous ;p

street racing is not condoned on this site, just to let you know.

from what you described, it's not suprising the lude pulls on you. it makes more low end torque than you do. you start pulling after vtec where the gsr makes it's power. dont expect much torque out of a 1.8L with bolt on's.

First off Id take to shop let them tune for you & second you should go to a local track. We disagree with street racing. Not a subject anyone on H/A wants to talk about or agree to.

What the hell did you do to "tune" this car anyways?

Anyways, streetracing sucks and IBL

Take the racing to the track. Period. :a:

Before I lock this thread, I'll answer your closing question.
Some form of forced induction, be it either a supercharger or smallish turbocharger will aid torque production below 4k.
