not worth the trouble when you can easily turbo your engine now

here the problem with that ok the ls engine is about 150hp@6300rpms after you turbo and do some other stuff where are you going to go your dead ended no matter what you do you can't catch up to those other engines that run 50 more horse stock

:slap:

what you have to understand is that those hp ratings are at the flywheel. assuming a 15% loss of hp through the drivetrain, that comes out to 170-180whp. turbo your b18b and you can easily be putting down 250+whp and smoke that other engine.

why spend all that money for a different engine and then turbo it when you already have a very good candidate for boost already under your hood?

that engine has a very high compression, and if you are going to spend money on the motor mounts you might as well put in an h22 which is about the same price if not cheaper since it is easier to find.

on top of that the lower compression of the h22 might allow for more options for boost later (although it is all in the tune)

boosted H22 = tasty

but if you like to be unique i think F20 would be cool...expensive and weird, but something you dont see everyday.

The H22 has been out of production since 2001. The supply is limited and it won't be a cost-effective solution. The F20 is also a very rare motor.

Why spend $5000 or more on a motor that spits out only 50 more crank horsepower? For the same money, your stock B18B can produce 100 or more.

I'd rather have an "average" soundly built turbo B18B that wins rather than an over-priced novelty motor that loses.

Rarity doesn't win at the dragstrip. Only horsepower does.
End of story.

Swap on a vtec head, reinforce the block & build the motor for 1/4 of the cost of a new motor or turboing your un-built could blow or get damaged b18b. Or build the b18b and turbo, or turbo the built LS VTEC...options are there, just explore.
