I used needle nose pliers, partially open., Put some grease on the boots, they will be easier to turn. Put new high temp grease in there where appropriate. There is a little bellows type of structure that a pin that holds it all together runs through as I recall. When you get the caliper off the rotor, it should be apparent where grease should go.

i've never done brakes on a honda that could be turned in with needle nose pliers. what works best is to take a normal sized flathead and stick in one of the slots sideways so you've got like 6 in. of leverage. what also works is to go and buy an inch wide screw drover attatchment for a socket wrench. It can still be a pain in the ass though.
