Default BREAK indicator in the dashboard is always ON

Hi,

Mine is 99 2D HBK

If I park the car outside all night in cold & when I start the car in the morning
the BREAK indicator (red) is ON for probably until the car runs 10-15 minutes.

Don't know why. Please let me know if you ahve experianced the same
problem & how to fix it.

Thanks in Advance.
Saci.

Cmon man.

If it was on all the time, dont you think you would be staring at it enough to know its spelled BRAKE not BREAK. Sorry, pet peeve of mine.

Check your fluid level. If its ok, it most likely is the sensor underneath the reservoir cap. Replace cap, light off.

I used to have this problem when I first got my Integra. Check your fluid level, it might be to low. If the fluid level is fine look for accumulated sediment inside of the strainer. Make sure no dirt or foreign matter is allowed to contaminate the brake fluid.

The strainer may not be letting the cap vent properly, causing the fluid level to change. Check for blockage of the vent holes on the reservoir cap.

This happens to me all the time. We are talking about the emergency brake light right? Same thing when its cold on my 98 GSR

Also in really cold temps when I start the car up it makes and awful whining noise.

carta are you aware of any articles or FAQ on this. I'm not familiar with your terms. I'm new to this. Thanks

What terms are you not familiar with? To sum it up the problem is most likely low brake fluid or a faulty sensor underneath the reservoir cap, already stated by newgsrdriver.

I believe that outside temperature may be a factor as well. When my brake light came on in the past, it was because my brake fluid level was low during the winter months. I never got this indicator light during the summer months.

As far as a FAQ or article I don't know of any. I did find a technical service bulletin on this issue here . Bulletin Number: 03029

Also here's a thread on team-integra which further compliments this post.

I'm familiar with the "whining noise" you describe as well. All I can say for that is ever since I took the powersteering off my Integra the noise has stopped. I doubt that was coincidence. It's possible that cold temperature could stiffen the belts causing them to whine.

Try this link, hopefully it will work for non members.

If the link doesn't work then I would recommend that you register over at team-integra.net. They have detailed articles on performance and maintenance. It's a very informative site for Integra owners.

Yup, almost guaranteed to work. I made a post about this on T-I.net and this is what I did to get rid of it.
