Default manifold heat sync?

I was talking to a buddy of mine the other day that has a '99 GSR and he was telling me about this new thing he had on his car. He said it was a prototype for a tuning company he knew. It was like some sort of resin composite gasket that went between his intake manifold and the head. It was pretty amazing because after driving his car for like 15 min. he popped the hood and I felt the valve cover...warm. but the intake manifold was completely cool! He said when they were first putting it in his car, they had a temp gauge hooked up to the intake manifold and it was only reading like 91 degrees the entire time! Just thought I'd share this info and see if anyone had ever heard of such a thing.

That's nothing new to me. Hondata produces a heatshield intake manifold gasket. Click the word "Hondata" in my post if you want to check it out. Maybe some newer members aren't aware of this.

well, how about that. It was news to me at least... Any idea how long Hondata has been selling that gasket? Cause it's not like he just got the one that was put on his car. His was made by Outlaw Engineering here in Indianapolis and it's not made of phenolic resin. I guess he's had it for a while, I just didn't know about it cause I don't see him all the time.

I have no idea when Hondata came out with that gasket. Maybe Outlaw Engineering came out with the idea first. I like how their gasket was designed. Who knows which performs better ?

LS owners would have to go with Hondata I think. It looks like Outlaw Engineering doesn't offer a gasket setup for the B18b

I just checked out their website. I had no idea they were a real "big time" company...

Yeah, definitely. I may be in the market for a new IM, since mine doesn't even have all the parts for the secondaries to open up. (i.e. no dashpot). So I might look into getting the gasket for myself when I get the new manifold. It's pretty cool that my buddy Christian was the first to use the prototype for the B18C1. The test results on their site are from his '99 GSR.

This is off topic, but a couple years ago, he ran a 14.3 1/4 at the track, and his only mods for his '99 GSR were no muffler, and no power steering belt! I guess he posted his time slip on TI a while back. Pretty amazing.
