My worm gear broke too, and I swapped in a Fuba. Pain in the ass to get the old one out. Well if you don't want to 'remove all your paneling to expose the antenna hideout. I just bent mine back, but I had to fight it off as it wanted to come back at me since I just moved it instead of removing it.

Thanks for this old post Dave. I ran into an identical problem (plus some winter ice) and a simple search revealed this post at the top.

Further testimony to the power of the seach button.

You're quite welcome. Thanks for searching.

With a couple gazillion archived threads, the power of that button is nearly limitless.

You can also pick up a switch at Home Depot and wire it inline with the antenna. That's what I did because I got sick of hearing the thing go up and down everytime I turned my head unit on/off. Now on the rare occasion that I want to listen to the radio, I flip the switch up and the antenna comes up, but otherwise it stays down. Saves wear and tear as well.

I did the same thing as csparaque. It was a lot easier then taking off the rear panels. Took about 35 minutes tops.

I put a short DIY in this thread on wiring a switch in to control the antenna.
