Can your car be hydrolocked with a stock car or is it only with mods - the bypass valve

With enough stupidity, yes. Drive it into a lake and see how far you get before it seizes. :chuckles:

It is very difficult to do on a stock car but anything is possible.

"The smart learn from others' mistakes, the dumb learn from their own mistakes." Be smart and get a bypass valve if you are running a CAI. It is always better to be safe that sorry; especially when a motor is at stake.

So is what i expereinced hydrolock
or did water just shoot at my altenator enough
to stall me?

i've been running 8 months since the incident no problems.

note my vehicle was COMPLETELY stock at the time
and i didnt drive into a lake, just a big puddle.

that why i hesitate getting a cold air intake. My buddy had one with that valve that closes when water gets in.
I guess he drove into a pool or something cause he ended up having water in his cylinders.
