True they are about the same price. But that doesn't include the chipping of the ECU. And the E-manage can be removed when it comes time for smog for unfortunate people like me, whereas a Hondata ECU will have to be replaced with a stock ECU that will cost hundreds more. The ignition timing can be adjusted with E-manage. You just need to buy the optional ignition harness.

At that point it wouldn't be cost effective. Hondata chips aren't exactly expensive either.

When you're going for a big HP increase, of course ign and fuel timing would be critical.

The optional ignition harness is $35. I don't think that is too expensive.

But then it makes it so that the Hondata (w/ boost controller) and the Emanage are nearly the same price... and the Hondata is a technically superior product

The only reason to go with Emanage over Hondata is if you have OBDII instead of OBDI

Which I do. And I have to deal with smog, so I may have to take it off come September.

So I finally installed my E-manage today. Boy, where there tons of wires to splice. Anyways, I have the support tool and that makes it so much easier. I plugged my injector size in to compensate and everything works just like the blue box did. I am going to get it tuned on Monday (hopefully, since it is a holiday and I am not sure if my shop is open) and I will post results. This E-manage seems like a really powerful tool since it offers an ignition, injector, 16 x 16 airflow, sub-injector, VTEC, Boost cut limiter, and anti-engine stall map. Pretty good for under $400. So far, it looks good but we will have to see after tuning.
