I have never done it on a steering wheel with an airbag but I believe the airbag is held in place by two screws that are accessible on the back of the steering wheel. Before you remove it I would suggest taking the positive terminal off of your battery and waiting a few minutes so there is no charge in the system. Once the airbag is off there should be one bolt holding the steering wheel down.

If anyone wants to jump in feel free. I have removed a non-SRS steering wheel before and I am not 100% sure if what I said covers everything.

the airbag is secured to the wheel using special Torx-screws. I don't remember the Torx #, but i can find it.

I replaced the steering wheel on my 01 Accord and it was fairly easy like LT69padawan6 said its two torx screws that hold the air bag on to the wheel and once they are removed the air bag will come off then use a socket to remove the nut thats holding the wheel on, loosen it but leave it on because you have to wiggle the wheel from side to side to release the pressure some people use a steering wheel puller but you dont need one and once the wheel is loose then unscrew the nut and thats all to it. Good luck with the removal, what kind of steering wheel did you buy.

Thanks dudes, so as I understand it then...from behind I undo the 2 torx screws (which I have a set of) and the front of the airbag comes off? Then the nut that holds the wheel on is accessible? Sounds easy enough.

And BONE, I bought the Tenzo R Tracer wheel in black w/a momo hub adaptor. Mr. Tenzo on ebay sold me both out the door for $145, shipping included w/a free Tenzo lanyard. I checked out the Tenzo steering wheels at SuperAuto Bacs here in town. They seemed just as good as the momo's and sparco's, and the sales guy who was answering my questions pretty much said the diffrence in price is due to the name brand. So I waited to spot a deal and this seemed good to go. I've had Tenzo Wheels before and they held up good so I am confident the steering wheel will too.

Do the 99s have automatic jumping of the service switch of the airbags? I know in my 94 you should really jump that service connector before playing with the airbags and steering wheel...

Never bragged too much about being smart, but I've always been cock strong, so pulling that wheel off shouldn't be too hard. I haven't given it much thought as to what I am going to do w/my stock steering wheel. I see they re-sell for cheap and are expensive as hell new. So I don't know...I may want to hang onto it. I've heard rumors of it being illegal to drive a car without your airbag if it is supposed to have one. I figured I could just keep it in my trunk in case I ever get stopped (again) and tell the cop I just got it back from being reloaded and that I was gonna put it back on tonight. Just in case...ya know? I don't want to be without it in case I need it.

I was stationed in the south for about 3 yrs. Not cock like a dick which you might be thinking, but the ability to cock something back or forward using brute strength/force, like when taking down a bull.
