Default Tranny swap, anyone done it?

Im gonna be raplacing my transmission, anyone done this... easy/hard?? should i just take it to a tranny shop or what?? i like feedback for some reason no one gives me feedback so stop bein beyotches and help a brotha out

if you have experience wrenching and know how everything is set up, then you should be fine. but if you dont know anything about relacing a tranny or if you arent big on doing anything yourself then i would suggest taking it to a shop. you can also pick up a helms or haynes manual and they go through everything possile on how to install or repair something on your car.

I have done it twice its really easy to take out, But its a pain an ass to put it back in you have to align it with the clutch and it such a bitch sometimes. A tranny shop will probally run you about $1000 or more. What kind of car is it?

1000 for a tranny swap? they quoted me like 500 - 1200 for a rebuild, i dont think its 1000

i know shops down here charge about that much, Its hard work. And you already need a new tranny on a 2000 GSR?

3rd gear synchro is goin bad, so its either rebuild.. or replace.. and i already got a 2000 gsr tranny with 20k miles on it for 700$ now i need it put in

Ive done one. Its not that hard to me at least. Theres nothing to difficult about it. I thought it was kind of hard and you may have to have 2 people to let the tranny down then get it back up and get the imput shaft back in. Other than that its pretty simple IMO. BTW it was on a B16A Del Sol and Ive done won on a 95 LS Teg.

give me some pointers and what problems will i run into, im pretty mechanically inclined, i do 12volt installation alarms / remote starts etc professionally but im not a mechanic i usually screw with older vehicles not really ballzy enough to screw with my own engine/tranny but ill give it a try once i feel a little bit more confident... a tutorial would help.. do those helms books or whatever have pictures and what not?

Check out www.c-speedracing.com for a tutorial. It is under the B18C clutch replacement. I found it pretty useful.
