Depends. A turbo that is poorly cared for and maintained can blow seals quickly.

What would be considered "poorly cared for and maintained"? I ran it at 8 psi without a blow off valve for about 2 weeks but I have one now. I will check the piping tomorrow to see if there is any oil. I did check the turbine wheel when the head was off and there was no free play at all. Right after that, I got the BOV installed.

OK. I took my intercooler piping off and there was no oil whatsoever. The intake tract before the turbo had a bunch of dry oil sludge inside the piping. I am thinking that it is coming from the hose venting into it from the valve cover. But when I turn the car on, it seems that the hose creates a vacuum, so I am unsure as to how that sludge is building up. The spark plugs suggest I am running rich. But I am also burning tons of oil. I changed the oil 3 weeks ago and I was almost 2 quarts low when I checked today. I am really confused as to why the oil is just "disappearing".
Is there possibly something else I am overlooking because this problem only seemed to occur after removing the head.
