I am using 10w30 at the moment. It does smoke a bit more when cold but it also smokes a lot when warm too. I drove around today and didn't notice much, if any, oil burnoff on my bumper. That is probably because it was raining. I am just trying to be optimistic about this because I don't want to replace the seals and I am hoping this $5 fix was the problem.

But what I don't understand is why it is burning so much more oil after I removed the head than it did before.

If your blowing bluish white, means your buring oil, If your blowing black, then your running rich. (just like quoted above

Like Master Yodub already stated a leakdown test would yield more info, I agree with him. Maybe you should consider upgrading the EMS, just a thought. It's a pretty well known fact that the "Blue box" runs rich, it's preconfigured that way.
The greddy blue box coupled with occasional trips to Vtec under boost on a high mileage motor. That would equal quite a bit of oil consumption IMO.

Keep us updated!

I am still having the problem but I have determined that it is happening most frequently when I am cruising at around 70 on the freeway and I punch it to pass someone. I can see whitish smoke behind the car. I don't know why it only does it then because in lower gears under full boost I can't see smoke behind me. I am thinking about a catch can if that will work because I am venting the breather hose into the intake tract before the compressor. So, maybe the compressor is burning the vapors and sending the smoke straight into the engine. This could all be a shot in the dark but I will try anything to get rid of this problem that has been plaguing me ever since I got my car 2 years ago.

I am also planning on upgrading from the Greddy blue box because I know it is making me run super rich. I don't want to get my ECU chipped with the Hondata because of cost and smog regulations in CA (even though that is my best option), so I was thinking of going with the tunable Greddy E-Manage. I haven't heard much about it but it is cheap and tunable, so if it sucks, I will sell it and think about Hondata.

I think valve stem seals are fine because I am not burning oil under vacuum or under cold conditions like mentioned previously. They can't be ruled out until a leakdown test is done, so I will leave that open.

Are there any other ways that I could be burning this much oil with those compression numbers, seemingly fine valve seals, and a new PCV valve?

What kind of condition is the turbo in? In my buddys 300Z the turbo seal had gone out and it was burning oil through the turbo. Just an idea.

The turbo is practically brand new. It has been on for around 1500 miles. I will check it out though.

I would run a catch can with turbo.

i had a similar problem W/ my tsi, the turbo oil seals were bad, u might want to check it out because it is a very common problem and it would explain you white smoke

I will pull the intercooler piping off and check but it sounds really fishy to be bad after only 1500 miles. Don't you think?
