THe unburned hydrocarbons(HC) are probably crap in the oil. How long has it been since an oil change? Probably too long. Smog testing is total BS, it does little to nothig to improve air quality. All it does is add another hidden, terribly regressive tax

HC's usually come from unburned fuel...but doing an oil change is beneficial as well. Maybe try some Lucas Fuel Injector and Valve cleaner too...I hear it works well.

Did the Lucas thing a few days ago on 1/2 a tank of gas. Filled back up today.

Well considering a bottle of the lucas stuff is 3 bucks and change, and treats up to 25 gallons of gas, I don't see how it's cheaper....and I'm pretty sure the lucas stuff isn't oil, which is what tranny fluid is.

You get unburned HC in the oil from blow by, and old oil will accumulate them and it will turn up at tailpipe
