I was thinking about upgrading to some to put on my stock wheels (195/60/14). Basically I want a good grippy street tire for the drag strip. But I have heard these are heavy tires, which would really hurt my acceleration. Is this true? Are they heavier than stock? Currently I have Goodyear Eagle HP's. The Azenis sound like what I want, but not if they're heavy and are going to hurt my acceleration...

 

They are heavier than stock but well worth the added weight which isn't much, it's not going to affect you much acceleration wise. Those things grip like a mofo in the turns. They are a really soft tire with huge contact patches, so I'm sure they would hook decently at the track.

 

Alright, this is what I wanted to know. So you're sure the added weight won't affect my acceleration? Cause this is my only concern. I've heard they hook really well at the strip and I don't mind their short tread life. I only drive about 6,000 miles a year, with maybe one or two trips to the strip and no auto-xing. So they should last me about two years.

I hope so. I guess I'm just being too anal about the few extra lbs. All I ever think about is lighter, lighter, lighter, so it's hard to buy something that is heavier. But as long as you say the extra weight won't hurt my acceleration (do you think I'll notice it?), then I guess I'll be fine.

 

My roomate got the 205/50/15's on his GSR hybrid, didn't notice the weight.

They are terrible in the snow. You won't really get much in terms of an all season sport tire. It will either be good in the dry, or good in snow/rain.....they don't really cross over. I have kumho ecsta supras, and they are great in the rain, and decent in the dry.....as for snow, I have no clue, it barely even rains in San Diego

 

So where's the best place to buy Falkens?
