Liquid coming out of the exhaust?

A few years back, I pointed to a car that have liquids, looks like water, dripping from the exhaust. My dad told me that it's a good sign, and it means the car is in good shape.

Is there any truth to this? Can someone explain, cause my car does that too.

Oh and another thing. Is smoke coming out of the exhaust good. I did a search and I read that white smoke coming out of the exhaust is not good, it means it's burning coolent [??]. Well, when I start up the car in the morning, there is a somewhat white smoke coming out, but when it's warmed up, there doesn't seem to be any. Someone explain if this is a bad sign?

 

white smoke could mean coolant leak or just condensation build up overnight. that liquid drippng is most likely condensation.

blue smoke is bad... motor oil

 

You are probably confusing white smoke with just more exhaust coming out. When your car is cold at first start it runs richer, and idles higher, that would make more exhuast come out.

 

possible leak in the head gasket, that wouldn't be cool at all.....but yeah that stuff is most likely condensation no to be repetitive.

 

The water coming out of the exhaust is just that. Water. its a byproduct of the cat cleaning the exhaust.

 

i think the water is just from running the air conditioning

all aftermarket systems plus mine has water coming out when they are new.. that i have seen... if it is water, i dunno i didn't taste it... and i dunno why this is... or if it is with all, just all i have seen (10+)

 

never heard that water coming out was a good sign, but it isn't a bad sign either. Unless it comes out like a fountain, lol
