of course it will grind. the 1st gear syncro is spinning so fast that when you shift that high, it will grind because the 2nd gear syncro is not moving AS fast.

or the oil pan gasket, or the main oil seal.

My 94 LS has 95K miles on it, and when the engine and tranny isnt warmed up, the shifting is fine....or somewhat fine. But, as soon as the operating temperature is reached, I struggle to shift while on the move. I can get into first no problem from a sit still. But once moving, going from 1st to second or second to third or any combination just plain sucks.

I changed the master cylinder. I bled the clutch. I have not changed the tranny fluid....but this problem just started a couple weeks ago right out of the blue. I have a soft grind going into 4th gear on occasion, but this is just plain weird.

Any suggestions?

Well, I just bought the car with 87K on it. So, I have barely done anything to it. But I will do that tonight.

Thanks

Well, it isnt the fluids. It is something mechanical...likely in the tranny itself. The car has a short shift done to it from the previous owner, and the car was likely driven hard. I too have driven it hard for 7K miles. I assume something has gone south...I just dont know where to begin.

I have a DVD its called Type R legend. The people in there are shifting the ITRS at redline they hit the revlimiter and shift. So why would it not mess up there trannys. Or people with GSR's that shift at 8000. Those would both seem more stressful than shifting at 7000.
