Default QUESTIONS about 95 INTEGRA!!

hey,, im 17 and im trying to convince my parents to get me a 95 LS special edition acura integra 2dr hatchback. Its got 103K miles on it already . its used... but they think that is way too many miles for a car,,, and i keep trying to tell them that INTEGRAS do not break down,,, and have hardly any problems. i just need proof and some people who actually own these cars to convince them to buy this... any feedback would be great

it all depends on how that person(s) drove the car and how they took care of it you know? mileage can be sneaky, very sneaky...what's the price by the way?

Just my opinion, but around here, Integras are pretty beaten up by it's drivers especially the G2's. Yes, Honda makes these things to last but too many young people get ahold of Integras that have never seen dirt under their fingernails. They just drive those things to death without thinking about maintenance. I just love generalizing and stereotyping.

Anyway, integras last a long time just like any other Honda, but only if taken care of. I personally would not buy a car with that many miles on it if I can help it. Once that sixth number turns over, the car is on its way downhill.

You'll get plenty of endorsements from people with high mileage including me, 99,000 miles and still running strong. So I say unless you're strapped for cash, don't take the gamble.

my '95 GS-R has 98k miles. not exactly trouble free for me.

recent repairs/fixes:

popped clutch spring (common on ALL 3rd gen integras)
leaking clutch master cylinder
both front axles
new rotors front and rear (ive never replaced rotors this early)
new radiator (still dont know why the OEM has a plastic core )
brake master cylinder - lost all pedal pressure
starter - left me stranded at 2am :madfawk:
broken antenna mast

problems i havent gotten to:
rough idle (checked vacuum lines, tps, pcv valve, etc)
miscellaneous rattles and creaks
bad motor mounts

recent maintenance:
new distributor cap/rotor
timing, a/c, power steering, and alternator belts + water pump ($$$)
fuel filter
valve adjustment
air filter
plugs/wires

It's sort of a toss up....it depends how the driver took care of it. Make sure you see ALL the maintance records that the owner has and see what he's done and what has been replaced. At 103k it should have done an intermediate tune up recently, so see if he's done that.

Common problems that I've encountered on my current 95 GSR and my old 94 GSR:

Radiator
torn engine mount
front rotors
new battery
clutch

That's what I can recall off hand. Oh and make sure he changed the belts at 90k, that's a must. I've never gone past 100k in either of my cars, but I do know they last well over 200k with the proper care. IMO I wouldn't buy it, just knowing it has over 100k I wouldn't buy it. Try looking for something with lower mileage, cause used cars tend to have at least one major thing wrong with it. If you do decide to buy it tho...have it checked out (that's a MUST) and run a vehicle history report (carfax). And if you have a friend that's older and has had an integra, have him test drive it too so he can tell you how it feels. Good luck

My 95 LS has 106,000 miles on it. Only repair so far has been the radiator. It is going to need a new clutch and alternater soon though. Other than that it still runs strong. I would get it checked out by a good mechanic before doing anything else. With that many miles on a car you never know how it is going to run. Good luck

that price is a little too high. I wouldn't pay more than $4000 for it. Just my opinion though.
