Default ITR intake manifold on B18B

Hey guys,

I'm finally starting to put some money into the power department of my 98RS. I've decided to accept the fact that I have no vtec, no top end so I'm trying to get more midrange power. I hear the ITR intake manifold does wonders, I was just wondering if ITR intakes would fit, also will my OBD2 sensors and stock throttle body fit on there?

I'm running a Full ITR catback now. Any suggestions on how I should proceed or what work needs to be done to gain that low to midrange power?

any helps appreciated!

Itr wont just bolt up, but you can buy a skunk 2 for your ls. It is a copy of the itr.

The flange holes and coolant passages don't line up. I've seen an article on a ITR IM retrofit though. Here is the article if you want to check it out. Click here
I agree with txhatch though, save yourself the hassle and go with skunk2.

Great article!
thanks carta

So much for the ITR IM plans, better start shopping around for that Skunk2
The article shows a pretty significant power drop around 5k ... wonder what thats about...

The ITR IM design sacrifices midrange and makes no hesitation in getting higher rpm power. The powerband is shifted up to higher rpms. The long runners on the B18b manifold helps LS midrange power.

It all depends on where you want the powerband to be located. Low end, mid-range, High end.

Given the low redline of an B18B1, the Skunk2 "ITR" intake manifold will be a bit of a step backwards without cams and headwork. A little extra displacement will help too. h:

If you're looking for more torque down low, you may wanna reconsider your tuning strategy.

exactly why the GSR has a flat torque curve. long runner & short runners

So basically, you're saying that I should worry more about tuning the engine as is rather than pick up an ITR manifold.

The cost of the manifold/headwork/cams, i'm coming pretty close to the cost of just picking up a JRSC.

and GSR guys, we all know how great ur nice vtec engines are ... I've got an LS, no money for GSR, so stop making me me feel bad!!
