Default Clutch Trouble

I've got an 88 Integra, and recently my clutch started refusing to disengage once the car was warm. Do I have to replace the clutch, or can I just adjust it?

Replace it. I had the same problem. A metal piece near the center of my clutch disk got roasted off and it needed replacing. I am not saying that is your problem but I would recommend getting it replaced as it takes a huge toll on your tranny.

Welcome.

I'd check your clutch fluid system and bleed it first... That should cost you like $4 for a bottle of fluid and 15 minutes of your time. If that fails to improve your situation, then you might wanna have a professional check it out.

Thanks. How much of the clutch will need replacing? (And how many hundreds of dollars will it cost me?)

My 96 GSR required the flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate and both bearings to be replaced. That all costed around $600. I'm sure it will be less for your car.

I agree with Epoch. Bleed the clutch and then go get it replaced if nothing improves.

If the clutch has failed, which is what I suspect, you'll be replacing:

• The clutch disc
• The pressure plate
• The throwout (aka pilot) bearing

• And the flywheel will need resurfacing as well.

Depending on who you go to, and the parts used, I'd plan on a $400 to $600 job. It takes a fair bit of work to get the transmission out of the way.

But then again, when you spread that cost out over 100,000 miles or so, it's not too bad. h:
