Default Strange Death

I searched the threads in the forum and did not quite find an answer yet for my issue... so let's see if you guys have an idea what could be going on.

FIrst my car info: Integra LS '94 w/ 90K miles - DOHC

Yesterday my car was running fine at all levels except for one small detail that I will expand on in a second. I was on a ramp accelerating to get on the Thruway and my engine died in third gear. Power steering went, power brakes and ABS went, lights and all electrical related stayed on.

I tried restarting the car and the engine kept trying to start to no avail.

Battery, alternator and starter seem OK. There are no leaks anywhere. Fluids are OK everywhere. Distributor and cables are 1 year old.

The small detail from above is that the car has been jerking when I accelerate for the past couple of weeks as if the gas intake would intermitently close and open. Even worse when the AC is on.

OK... where do I go from here, other than the repair shop?

Thanks!

Most important question... are you getting any spark?

Epoch...

I just read another thread about ignitor coil and ICM related problems on which you posted last June, and it really sounds like the same prob I am having.

Good point, I need to check for spark and the like and I will do that in the morning. I am the busy father of six, so I don't have time to play with my cars as much as I would like etc. I will look into the spark plugs and dist cap and keep you posted.

Thanks.

Distributor is my best guess. Same thing happened to me and I tried replacing just the cap and rotor but ended up having to replace the whole thing. Good luck though, should be an easy fix.

Since the motor cranks, you've probably got plenty of battery left.
The car is old enough that the coil may have kicked the bucket.

Also, keep in mind that you're coming up on the deadline for a timing belt replacement.
Since the B-series motors are an interference design - you do not want to have the timing belt snap on you. A mulched valvetrain will result. h:

If your car jerks while driving and then it just dies, could be be your fuel pump?
