This is a traditional scam, I was flooded with those dumbasses when I tried to sell a car on Autotrader.

 

Overpaying with a counterfeit cashiers check is a classic scam.

The trick is, it'll clear YOUR bank, then you think it's OK. So you send the 'buyer' his excess $9k or whatever, then you never hear from them again. They never come to pick up the car.

Three weeks later the check comes back counterfeit, & your bank takes $20k back out of your account. If it was a closed account, insufficient funds or something like that, your bank will know about it in a day or 2. But a COUNTERFEIT check takes a couple weeks to find out.

 

yeah i also dealt with that with my grandpas car... they think they are pulling it over on everybody... i wonder if anybody is still fallin for this scam?

 

yeah there is a shit load of people who fall for it. they did that to me a few years back. If someone is sending me payment I always ask for a cashiers check just incase It's fake.
