Hello, and I have a question
Hello to all, I am new to your forum. Ok, now for the question. I am wanting to get an Integra. I am new to the scene and don't know a whole lot about it all. I have some pretty good basic knowledge of cars, but I am no master mechanic. I want to buy a GSR, but they are extremely difficult to find in my area (Tulsa OK) --I am looking for a low mileage '99 or 2000--. I am considering getting an LS instead and was wondering how hard it is to convert it to GSR type power. Can I just change the heads and cam and stuff to a vtec and be done? Please don't wail on my ignorance too badly. Is the LS as upgradeable as the GSR? What is the power difference between the two? Ok, well responses will be appreciated. Thanks

Ummm, after doing a couple of searches I see that I probly made a bad impression with this question that gets asked alot by noobs like me. I don't want to do an engine swap, and I don't want to spend more than $2000, so i guess I should just keep looking for a GSR. BUT, With a stock LS platform and $2000 what would you all reccomend? ---if I have to go in that direction. Otherwise I will have to do my last choice....A 2000 V6 Accord with NoS. LOL

Hold out for the GS-R... it will always be that much better than an LS for the price. And with 2K to drop, I'd reccomend getting the typical bolt ons (intake, header, catback) comptech rear tie/sway bar, and some Tein SS coilovers... you'd have a blast of a ride with that...
The only thing to worry about with a GS-R is theft and insurance... so in that respect, an LS might be more reasonable depending on crime in your area...

Thanks. Compared to what I pay in insurance now, anything is probably cheaper. And as far as theft, I have a garage and a pistol. The GSR's are so rare in my area, and there are a couple older type R's for sale but they have high mileage and seem overpriced to me. ($13,500.00 for a '97 w/89k) The whole LSVtech thing seems like more trouble than it is worth from what I have read. My main thing is relability. I just like to have the punch available when highschool kids like my little brothers pull up on me. So, I am waiting for the elusive GSR. I guess I will go with I/H/E and a nice set of rims. Is Nos a danger on these things stock? (55 to 75 shot) JUst for those rare occasions and tha "awwwwww shhhh" factor. LOL

He says it is #299 of 317, seems like a strange number. Well, the more I use that search bar the more I feel like an idiot for asking all these questions that have been answered over and over. My apologies to all the important people. Yeah the Type R is nice, but higher mileage than I wanted. But these hondas/acuras run forever right? I guess I will see if it still around when my truck sells. The JDM right-hand-drive that I wanted sold in like the first two seconds after the auto trader came off the printer. OH well

87K isn't too bad on a 97... I have a 94 GS-R and I just pushed it over 150K today. Consumes no 5W-30 oil, pulls strong... my only issue is that the suspension should get an overhaul soon...

There is a lot more dfferent between the LS and GSR than the motor, the suspension and transmission are also quite different, hold out and get what you are looking for. I believe on the ITR, they brought 500 to north america, including Canada, which may account for the odd amount
