Default check engine light after r134a retrofit

hey does anyone know whats going on here...i converted my girls 92 gsr from r12 to r134a yesterday...the check engine light is on now. i did everything i should of been doing...i think. i had a shop evacuate the system of any remaining r12 before i did the retrofit. whats the deal with the check engine light on?

Read the error code. Maybe it's unrelated. But since the ECU stores the codes, why should you guess about it?

well are you sure you hooked everything up correctly or did you hook everything up i would triple check but then again it might be unrelated to what you just did :dunno:

is this a normal thing for the light to go on though? has anybody done a r134a retrofit and encounter this problem before? are there actually monitors for a/c?

No...it's not normal, plus a CEL is something completely seperate from the a/c system (well at least for the Honda/Acura cars it is), you had to have knocked something loose like a sensor wire for example or something else in the engine. Get a read on the code like someone else said, then start from there.

He's right , it's got nothing to do with the a/c. Check the code.

alright, after all my failed attempts to reset the CEL i finally figured out the problem. it was the fcukin wire to the vtec solenoid..damn..plugged it back in and light went off. thanks.
