Well, if you really want to get a faster car while not investing any more money, I'd sell the integra and buy an MR2.

I'm gonna side with rationality and suggest you don't need to strip every creature comfort out to make a margnially quicker car. I mean, what would be the purpose of making your car louder, hotter on the inside, and incredibly illegal? And hell, I'd hate to thing what could happen in an accident with poorly fitted lexan windows..

If you want to free up some "cheap" power, you can always use copper spark plugs, move to 5w-30 oil, advance your timing 3 degrees or so, remove your AC, and disconnect your power steering belt. Then sell your AC system to buy a lighter battery.

Cheap effective power without putting your safety at stake

No idea, but with wrestling with those while working on my car, I'd say in the neghborhood of 30 to 40 lbs. Also, you can ditch your spare, and throw out your sound system. That will shave another 20-30 lbs out.

i decided to keep the spare just in case. but not the tools. i can always call AAA (triple A) and have them put on a spare. but i would be screwed w/out it. but i need to get myself some 12lb seats and then i will almost be satisfied. thanks for the info, late

If you go through all that effort and shave 100 lbs from the car, you will reduce your 1/4 mile ET by a whopping 1/10 of a second.

I personally would not worry about extracting the "absolute maximum" level of performance from an otherwise-stock car by ripping a bunch of stuff out of it that is actually useful. I for one don't want to be without a/c on a 90-degree day, I like to listen to the radio or a CD, I don't want to have to manhandle the steering wheel just to get into a parking space, I don't want to change my spark plugs way more often for maaaaaybe 2 hp, etc.

It's a daily driver. That extra 1/10 in the 1/4 and ever-so-slightly nimbler handling isn't worth all of those compromises to me. If you can't afford to actually modify the car, don't try to make up for it by making it way less useful as an actual car.

Other suggestions to shave weight, free:
- drive naked
- shave off all your hair
- clip fingernails and toenails
- lose 10 pounds

It should be easy to recognize you as you're slowly passing the rest of us: "Hey, there goes the bald, skinny, naked guy!"

umm, i'm not buying anything. and i don't plan to be stock always(even though i'm not really) i want to make this car for the strip in the future, and some auto-x. i haven't been to either but love driving and want to do both. even for street i would do this. but i am not taking of the a/c or the ps cause i don't feel like those are worth the sacrifice! i need my a/c for the summer too. so i don't think i will do those. but as far as ''That extra 1/10 in the 1/4 and ever-so-slightly nimbler handling isn't worth all of those compromises to me,'' it's a DIY for me do learn and have fun. i don't mind that at all. but i see where you are getting at. it doesn't make too much of a difference, but when i win by that 1/10 of a second, i think it would be worth it. plus, i want to get more than 100 lbs off, but i know i will be sacrificing in the future which is what i plan so i decided to do this DIY along w/ painting the metal show(after sound detination removed from under carpet) black w/ a mixture of a ''sand like material found at home depot'' and i found this on TI. he said it hurt's to kneel on but has lasted for i think it said 2 years. but anyway sorry for the long post.

call it a prep-car...i'm just starting on this so it will take me a while maybe since i get paid weak. but i am doing as much as i can. but my biggest concern is that i want to look stock. only thing that would change that are the catback and the coilovers. and want to get the adjustable ones that go from 1 1/2 - 4' or whatever it is, not too sure. and i don't drive to give a bad name to tegs. thanks for replies and concerns!
