I have a b18a1 from a 92 teg in my 91 hatch. I went to put in tranny fluid today. I pulled off the filler bolt and began to add fluid. it started coming out of the filler bolt when i got about 2/3rds through the quart...what's with that? Shouldn't it hold like at least 2 quarts? It was completely empty i know, cause the tranny was off the motor just a few weeks ago in my garage. O ya my car was jacked up, but does that matter that much?

 

If the car is not level, it will alter the amount of fluid it will take. If you try to fill it too fast it can also overflow

 

I would first remove the drain bolt to ensure it's completely empty, then screw that back in, level the car in, and start filling in through the filler bolt. Factory spec is 2.3qt.

 

It needs to be level, and also you need to use some type of funnel/hose...it may only LOOK like its overflowing, take a rag and put it around the hose to block off the 'leaks' around the hose or funnel your using and make it all go in...

I know when i did mine it took over 3 quarts due to all the stuff i spilled, even when like Daniel said, it only takes 2.3
