I've never done it on anything with electronic ignition, grew up in south carolina, so i saw lots of tractors and pushrods and the like. I've got a service manual and a light just looking for tips and pointers, thanks!

Dumb question... Pushing the distributor toward the firewall is what ? raising the Deg or lowering it.

I never paid any attention to it.
