It may just be some excess oil that has been spilled on the engine, should burn off and be smelling fine soon. My valve cover gets hot, I believe that is normal. Also you might wanna consider changing your own oil, it saves money and is relatively easy.

I agree my car does it too when i ever i have the oil changed at the dealer it only lasts 20-30 miles dont fret it.

Do a few things to make sure they did not mess up your car.
First check the oil level
2nd check the filter and make sure it hand tight, nothing more then snug.
3rd keep an eye on the temp gauge.
4th if you park your car inside, place a clean peice of cardboard under your car to see if there are any leaks.
