I apologize for being such a newb. I have an 88 CRX and plannin to do a swap. But after long thinking, I had 2 choices in mind. The JDM R or B20vtec/turbo. in the end, I decided on the JDM R. But the thing is, I wanna be able to run mid 13s - high 12s street driven everyday. Is it possible?
All I hear is that the Type R is already fully built to the best but i'm sure there are mods you can slap on there to make it run faster. Plz help.
I'd also like to make a note that I have a $20,000 (canadian) to spend AFTER the swap. So plz just shoot at what I can get to make my rex the fastest rex in town. But also keep in mind that I wanna be able to drive this car everyday, approx 200km each day (since girlfriend lives across the city from me) so I prefer reliability over anything else.
Need lotsa help here. Thank you so much

if you drop a JDM ITR motor in you 88 CRX you'll be hitting mid 13s with just the swap...now add i/h/e/vafc and that should put you into low 13s, then add TODA Spec Bs, valvesprings, timing belt, cam gears, get it tuned. Totally streetable, you'll run mid 12s all day. But since you got $20,000 to spend AFTER the swap just get a DRAG III turbo kit and hondata and run mid 11s and still be streetable. Why dont you sell that CRX and get a real R, eh? :P

Thanks alot for that info 98, but is that setup reliable? Just wonderin.
Also wouldn't the Drag III turbo really kill my motor? But honestly, thanks for your and everyone elses. The tuners in calgary don't really say anything to me cuz they think i'm not serious about doing this so they give me a bunch of BS.
I looooove the ITRs but the thing is, it came down to a few factors for me to pick the 88rex. For 1, most of the ITRs in my area for sale are pretty banged up with over 100, 000km on the od. The decent conditioned ones are over $21, 000 and are already modded.
Buying the 88 CRX only set me back $2,000 and needed minor work that didn't even come up to $1,000. Doing the whole install will throw me back $7,500 including labour. So after adding all that up, I have a rex that cost me $10,500 and still have the same power.
The 2nd reason is power to weight ratio. ITRs are 2800lbs (correct me if i'm wrong) and the 88 CRX is only 2018lbs. Throw my passenger seat, spare tire, ac, etc out and i'll be down to 1900lbs easy.
Those are the reasons that lead me to buy my rex. I bought the rex after I knew what swap I wanted to do (1 of the 2 in my 1st post). Having an JDM R crx for just $10,500 leaves me with A LOT of money to play with

Reliability is all up to how you tune the car. You can run 6-7 psi all day long and drive it 200,000 miles boosted with no problems as long as you change your oil every 2,500 miles, dont run lean (always good to run a tad on the rich side) and you'll be fine...just dont get big headed at turn the boost up to 14psi cuz you lost to a Dodge Viper :P
