On a type-R the differences are minor. Peak HP is close but the icebox has a better overall curve. AEM is loud, Icebox is quiet. I prefer to be seen not heard and like making power in all parts of the power band so I sold my AEM for an Icebox.

Trey, between an icebox and a J's racing intake, what would in your opinion be a better choice on a nearly stock Aaaarg??

Rgoose, I am not avoiding your recurring question on purpose but instead just have to explain I have a lack of experience with the J's Racing intake. The Carbon Fiber whore will love it. I personally don't care about throttle response and have a hang up about cold air intakes being btter than any short rams.

Of the 4 intakes I might consider it would go like this

Mugen
Icebox
AEM
J's

THis isn't to say it doesn't work or that anyone made a poor choice but this is how I would do it if money were no object. The Icebox gives good power/power curve and is quiet and sedate looking. When discussing an intake for a lightly modded R you won't see a huge variance between any and none of them make big power over the stock air box.

Pick what you like, I like the Icebox.

Hey sorry for all the repeat questions Trey. Seems like outta everybody on this site, you and Dave ROR have the most knowledge of the ITR. I think for the price, the icebox seems to be a good choice. Also the fact that it is extremely similar to the stock box has sold me. Although I do have one more question (it's the last, I swear) is it better to go w/ the $59 dollar comptech foam filter, or pick up a K&N? Thanks -Ryan

I had both filters at one point and I sold my comptech filter on ebay.

I use a K&N RU2820 adapted to a stock filer elbow.

If you have both why don't you try them both out and see which one you like better. I wish I could have had multiple intakes to try out before I got mine. I am happy with mine though as they are almost all the same for 1.8T engines.
