Need to replace rotors. Do I NEED to replace pads also?...

My pads still have a lot of life on them. They are the stock pads. Is it ok practice to change the rotors without changing the pads? Someone told me I should change them b/c the pads are used to the old rotors. But shouldn't the pads "accustom themselves" to the new rotors after a few hundred miles?

It might be possible to re-bed OEM (i.e., soft) brake pads to new rotors. If you're not a track driver or overly enthusiastic driver, it shouldn't matter all that much.
For future reference, it's pretty much a waste of time to resurface ITR rotors when you can buy perfectly good, new Brembo blanks cheaply. There's also places like Advance and Autozone...there's no point in spending a lot of money on items that are entirely expendable and for which items more money does not equal more service life.
Tell us, too, what kind of brake pads you're using, exactly. That would help us elmiinate the possibility that it's not friction material transfer that you're interpreting as rotor warp.

i'm using the stock pads still. the rotors are stock too. still the original parts with now 40K miles on the car.
when the rotors were warped last time, it was really bad. i'd feel it any time i touched the brakes.
now, it feels like it's slowly getting worse with time. i now feel it mostly at high speeds when i hit the brakes, and when i hit the brakes hard. also, as i'm approaching a stop/red light, the last few feet of movement i feel a little "stop and go" feeling. when the warped part hits the pads it slows the car, and then it goes smooth again once it passes. almost bobbling the car very slightly from front to back.

BTW, if possible i'd like to get some quality parts that will maybe improve braking also.
will any rotors out there do that for me?
any pads that don't make rediculous dust/noise that can actually improve braking response and distance??
if it's not worth switching pads, then i'll keep the ones i have now. this is mainly why i'm wondering if i should get new pads or not.

Why not just call Cobalt Friction and let them know what you want your brakes to do that they're not doing now?
They sell rotors, too, cheaply.
They can recommend a brake pad that performs like you want, and one that won't destroy your wheels w/excessive corrosive dusting.
There are definitely pads that can provide significantly greater performance, hot and cold, than what you're using now.
