I bought a 2000 fbp ITR a couple of weeks ago and it came with RC fuel injectors installed. Anyway, the check engine light stays on due to the fact that it is running rich. My question is this, what is the stock injector flow and how much of an increase in flow triggers the check engine light? I was told by the seller it was 230 stock and 270 with the RC's. Any indight would be welcomed. thanks.

 

ITR injectors are 240cc and I doubt they are 270 cause I run Prelude 290 injectors and have no problem running too rich before the fuel is trimmed out.

I would guess they are much bigger than he let on.

The stock ITR injectors are supposedly 235cc injectors/ 240cc, what ever, either way, assuming you're running stock ecu and everything else, you should be able to run upto a 310cc injector without any serious problem, although keeping in mind that your computer stock can only correct up to somthing like 40%. Either way, you may want to look on the actual injector, most RC injectors actually say what size they are on them, or at least the 310cc that I used to have had 310 etched on em'. You also may want to check your fuel pressure, it's entirely possible that it's very high, assuming you have a fuel pressure regulator. Your non-static fuel pressure should be about 42psi stock. you also may want to check the impedence of your injectors, they may have removed the resistor box by accident or something, or your injectors might just be dirty. There are a number of different things it could be. If you want, and I'm assuming for the most part you are stock???? I still have my stockies with the injector clips, if you want, you could borrow them to test out the theory, and find out what the problem is.....Let me know.

Thanks for the reply. What I'm going to do is replace the RCs with Prelude injectors and hope that it doesn't run to rich. Did your car run close to stock with the bigger injectors? My problem is that I just got this car from some kid who couldn't settle with having stock parts, so like I mentioned before, felt the urge to put on oversized RCs and literally cut the stock harnesses off, which are nowhere to be found, thus throwing the check engine light, thus failing any inspection which must be performed in about five days before notification is sent along with a $250 donation (ticket) to the State of NCDOT. Didn't you have RCs for a day or something & why did you get rid of them? Thanks in advance.

Had em' for a day, and found out they were too small, so had to replace them with bigger ones, I ended up using ford motorsports injectors, which are supposedly very good. As far as the injectors go you may want to solder the wires, that's probably why the check engine is on, and probably not the size in this case, you should be able to use up to a 310cc injector without throwing a check engine light. Try that, if that doesn't work, I'm pretty sure I still have the stock clips if you need them.

Do you have the stock injectors too? If so, I'll buy them in conjuntion with the harnesses. We ran the scanner on it and indeed it was running rich. The thing is that the Rc's are in fact only 270's. Let me know if you want to sell them.

 

I do have stock injectors as well as harnesses.. I'd like a hundred bucks for em'
