I'm questionning myself about my setup too...

Hi everyone, I was very disapointed to see the lack of Dc sports parts in these boards as well as clutchmaster and most people here seam to know what they're talking about. I was wondering if I did some Mods that are very far from all it could be or if it's not that bad actually ( I didn't think it was til today!
Heres what i have modded so far on my 98 ITR and would appreciate some feedback on what mods i should either change or consider...
AEM CAI
Dc Sports 4-1 JDM Header
Dc Sports Cat Back system (stock CAT)
AEM Underdrive Pulleys
Unorthodox Racing Crank Pulley
Clutchmaster's Stage 3 Clutch Kit
Clutchmasters 8 lbs aluminium flywheel
I have yet to install my AEM cam gears, but i'm waiting for perhaps a further CAM Shaft upgrade to do all at once... Opening that head up can be costly. The head has been rebuilt 3000 km's ago and i have a brand spanking new 4000 $ Intake Manifold imported from Japan (which took my car away from me for most the summer cause it was in back order) due to getting mine stolen when my car was forgotten for one night (how weird?) outside my friendly Acura Stealership.
And i was also thinking that I could consider a Stock JDM ITR ecu to fit with a Test Pipe to eventually remove the CAT, would that be a so bad idea, and otherwise, what would be a Good ECU replacement for max high end gains with a test pipe, or even without for that mather?
Thanks for the help anyone

Your list of mods actually sounds pretty good so far, the test pipe is a definite must, although I would hold off on the AEM cam gears, and any other cam gears that use a three bolt configuration. I would suggest either Spoon, Jun, or Toda, and though they may be a bit on the pricey side, they are ussualy pretty well worth the money. I'd say go with SKunk2, but the markings on mine were off when I got them.
As far as the manifold for $4000, that's a lot of moolah for a manifold, what kind is it?????
Any way, yes as far as cam gears go, you should probably do the gears at the same time you do the cams, assuming you were planning to do so, this way you don't have to retune your car once you get them.
Bottom line:
Your mods are a good choice, well, except the clutch, thats way over kill, but everything else is pretty good.
And just so you know for the record, I used a clutchmasters stage one for quite a while, and was very happy with it, they are just hard to find good deals on, and so this is why I went with an Exedy clutch this time around, which I have yet to put in. Any way....
Good Luck,
Aj

Hey thanks for the reply Aj, by overkill you mean too good of a clutch for what i needed? If that's what you meant, well good then cuz thats what i needed, so in case i was gonna go the forced induction route i was set with my clutch, i dont like to pay things twice, my cam gears ill try to sell then, i was told 3 bolts was bad only after i had them too.. but now i was think unorthodox racing, but that was expensive. That intake is what acura needed to pay to get a new one machined from me in Honda japan, all their stocks where out where they looked, and same for where my insurance company worked, it was US funds, but if i was smart i woulda bought a jackson racing supercharger for 1000 more... but i didnt want a supercharger im still garanteed (that is after i take the intake and headers off when something bad happens And im very satisfied with the gains ive had, they get my by a 90 mustang 5.0 liter thats not in top shape in most cases. What ECU would you suggest though to go with the test pipe, i don't want the mugen, too hyped up imao... The test pipe is when i dedicate my car to track some day, for now im keeping my emissions low... Whatever im putting next, i like it to be top of the line... do you suggest those skunk 2 stage 2 cams to anyone? i dont think i wanna risk the toda cams, they seam unreliable of what i heard so far, even though they get high gains... i was thinking of resleaving to 2.0 liter in a couple years to make a strong NA engine kind of what you did, do you suggest 84 mm bore(less or more?) ill stop my mods at 12:0 compression... then ill be all set for engine mods i think.. ill be fast enuff for what that car was originally... Im also thinking of trying to sell my CAI to get a CAI v2... seams like some usable power on that dyno line. anymore feedback would be great!

Yeah, the whole canadian funds thing threw me off. As far as the intake goes, don't bother selling it for a newer one, AEM to teh best of my knowledge hasn't redesigned their intakes to make any more significant power gains. As far as ECU goes, Hondata all the way, assuming you have a couple dollars laying around. As far as the test pipe goes, what ever works....
Any way, gotta get some ZzZzZzZzZzZ's

I saw the dyno test, if it's not BS it increses horse power a bit over the entire rpm range. If i sell mine anyway, i can rebuy one for the price i sold it here in canada, since i got it dirt cheap over the net no one does that here it seams they all get screwed by retailers, hehe... not me! well not always at least

I think you would be amazed how many people stateside get their parts very cheap, as well as on line. Most of the kids you run into, at least where I live don't know any better, and that's why they get nailed by retailers. But as I'm sure you'll notice, most of the guys on the ITRCA probably havn't been taken too frequently....

I just wanted to clarify one thing, I also had the stock flywheel machined, a very important step that some hacks skip. I decided not to go to a light weight flywheel, because I was afraid the motor would drop out of it's powerband too easily. Also I have heard that some people have had a hard time getting the car to idle with a light weight flywheel , not enough rotational inertia.
