Default Header?

Here's the low down.

I have a 2001 gsr with typeR aem CAI/ DC Sports 4-2-1 header/ Skunk2 IM/JG TB/skunk2 ecu/DC Sports exhaust, for engine mods. But im sick of looking at the header i have its to small now it kinda looks cute, hehe . Anyway im looking at the JDM 4-1 or 4-2-1 header, any info?

i would go for a 4-2-1 one piece, 2 piece is easer to install though. 4-2-1 because if you think about, ill explain this with air and a pipe. air goinging into 4 slots then being pushed into 1 emedilty is quite hard, but going for 4 slots down to 2 then 1 would make your car breather better. thats how i take it.

Where in the world did you get this crap from? That makes no sense and hardles logical reasoning.

You will be hard pressed to find a 2.5" collector (JDM) Header that is 4-2-1 unless you are willing to spend $800+ The DC and OEM JDM headers are each 4-1. They perform well and despite the misinformation above, 4-1 actually does very well at moving air and before the high performing headers we have now they were know to make less low end TQ and more high end power. This isn't really the case anymore. I'd suggest you consider an OEM JDM 4-1 since it is sub $400, has better ground clearance than the DC header and is stainless steel.

There's a 2.5" collector version of the A'PEXi 4-2-1 header that sells for just over $500.

There is? Got a link, I'd like to see more about it. I know they make a sweet 4-2-1 US sized collector header bhut I've not seen anyone mention a 2.5" collector option or any performance from it.

Can u show me a picture of the OEM JDM 4-1 header that would be great also where could i find one? Do u agree that i could use a better header? So the DC header i have has smaller piping then the OEM JDM 4-1, and no collector?

Go to the pulldown menu and there's an option for "98-01 JDM ITR 2.5in collector."

Every header has a collector. The collector is simply the section of pipe where all of the runners merge into one. Any header that is designed to bolt up to the stock catalytic converter of a US-spec Honda will have a collector that is 2.25" in diameter or smaller.

The '98-'01 JDM ITR has a header with a 2.5" collector from the factory. There are also aftermarket headers available that have a 2.5" collector. To really get the full benefit of the larger collector, you need a 2.5" cat and a 2.5" exhaust; however just running the header will still provide an incremental improvement over a 2.25" version.

This is what the OEM JDM ITR header looks like.

Thanks for the info. Was totally unaware that existed. I've never seen anyone use/test the Apex-i. SUre would be nice to know how well it does compare to it's counter parts.

Apex-i is well Apex-i, you can never go wrong with that imo.

I trust Apex more then DC sports, but when you talk about $$$$ and that $$$$ I dont have, then ill go with DC.
