Default I might have to say good bye to my car...

I have a beautiful 97 Integra LS that I love to death, its in perfect condition with only 65k on it.

Due to a financial crisis in my family (we were always poor since day 1) I might have to sell my baby that I worked so hard to buy. That's if I want to continue college... I'm assuming I will get around 7-8k for the car but I also belive that if I work my ass off, I can earn that money as well.

So what do you think I should do? Should I take less classes and work my ass off to keep the car or just sell it and not worry about tuition fees?

Will it even be possible to earn 5k by end of the summer doing minimum wage jobs?

take out a loan. you dont have to start paying it until 6 months after you graduate. then you work your ass off to pay off the bill. KEEP THE TEG!

school is much more important. if you think it'd really help by selling the car, do it. another option is to keep the car, find a good parttime job, and just work your ass off.

i don't think cutting back on classes is a good idea. that just makes it easier to unload even more classes, and eventually to stop going to school altogether.

are you getting any sort of financial aid?

That would be stretching it. See if you can find a $10/hr job, and you'll make it fine. I was able to put aside about 7K over a summer doing a $10/hr job and lots of overtime

That's a tough decision to make, I'd do anything to make sure my car stays in my possession, but I don't have school as the other option, and that's important too. I wish you well whatever you decide on, and although I hope you get to keep your car, also remember that when you're done with school and making good money at whatever you're studying, you can buy another...

as of right now I do not have financial aid and the reason for that is because I dont think I'm eligible for it since I dont have a green card

does anybody know how it works? If I can get financial aid, then this problem is basically gonna be taken care of easily.

I am in school ahd have nothing. i'm having to get a full time job to pay my own bills and everything, and without a car , i would ahve no job and no way to survive. as for me, school can wait at least a few months. i've already been to school for 2 years with NO CAR which has left me in some seriously unfavorable conditions because i have no job and no money and can barely pay for school with my savings, and 3-4 months of taking a break wont hurt me. i can catch back up next semester. but seriously, think about what you want to do and what would help you the most. take your time- and dont rush.
