My car got broken into last night also, they slim jimmed it and pulled the ignition apart , but I have a silent alarm that dose not allow the car to start. I was in the movies and I took my cd face in with me, they dident get anything and all they broke was my steering column cover. Stupid aholes need to get a job .
The cops took finger prints off the window but the people were so nervouse that the finger prints smuggy from sweat, I was told that they were amatures cause the professionals would have gotten the car.

That’s one bad thing about cars in general; you can’t keep your eye on them all the time. Even if you have a garage (like I do), you still have to park it on the street or parking lot when away from home. My 94 Integra got broken into about two years ago at the parking lot at my work. The thieves got away with my stereo including the faceplate that I was stupid enough to leave in the glove compartment. They also stole my cd case that was underneath the seat. It had about 10 CD’s, including a couple (from some local bands) that have been out of print for many years and are impossible to replace.
I learned my lesson about keeping ANYTHING valuable in my car. I replaced the stereo with a cd player that can play mp3s. I don’t keep any original cds in my car, instead I use them to create mp3s, burn those to cds, and only keep the burned copies in my car. If they get stolen, I still have the originals at home.
I also NEVER keep the faceplate in the car anymore, unless I’m driving it. Even if I have to run into a store for a few minutes, I put it in my pocket. If for some reason I can’t take it with me, I pop the trunk, pop open the covers to one of the rear strut towers, and put it the cavity above the wheel well. That way if the thieves have enough time to look in the trunk, they still won’t find anything.
I’m still amazed when people tell me that they leave cash in their cars.

I noticed that it really depends on the appearance of the face plate. If it's really flashy, for sure you're going to attract a lot of unwanted attention. My car was broken into almost 3 years ago, they stole my entire stereo system (excluding speakers in doors and back), but my subs and amp were all taken. I learned not to emphasize too much on the look of the radio, but more on the quality. Now I have a very basic looking radio, that performs amazingly well (Nakamichi), never had any problems since.....*knock on wood*
