Default ls/vtec instllation and opinions

I am planning on doing a motor swap on my 93 integra and I wanted to know if anyone out there has experience with the ls/vtec installation and if anyone had any facts or opinions on its reliability, compression ratio, horse power, torque, which vtec head is the best for the project, ect.

i got a ls/vtec motor in my car....LOTS of mods, believe me it's necessary if you want the hp numbers and to have a motor that won't blow up/have problems. hp is roughly 200 TO THE WHEELS have no idea what it is to the flywheel maybe 240-260 lol don't quote me. dont' remember torque. but it's enough for me to go through two drive axels in less than 6 months. my compression is set up for 12:1, redline at 8k, i might consider 9k but the power band is probably already peak at 8. as for a vtec head i'd look for a gsr or a type r head with the oil valve squirters, as for my set up i have a b16 head. search my sn and you'll find my list of mods and pics of the engine as well as my car in general.

hum, i don't remember right, but it probably isn't the valves, i think it might be the piston, uh dont' quote me on this, but i know on the type r head and gsr there's something in the head, an oil squirter to cool down the pistons or something, yea....lol sorry for the lack of help.

Those are on the B18C blocks, not the B18B blocked often used in LS/VTEC systems

haha very true. blanked out of my head for a minute, it's in the blocks. you'd just have to run an oil feed line for vtec. oh and btw if i had the money, i'd start with a fresh block.

yea i know people have the ls block and say hey i got half of it done right there, but i wouldn't advice going into an ls/vtec project unless you want to build the motor.

it's a lot easier to go with the gsr swap or even the type r motor swap if you got the money. and if you want to do a build up, i'd recommend a b20 block with a vtec head. the b20 block is built to handle a lot more torque as it was in the 97-00 crv's i believe. hum wondering if anyone is bold enough or has the money to throw the crv's rear differential into a civic or integ, program the ecu to make the car run awd all the time. anyways just my .02 cents

The GS-Rs and Type-R's oil squirters are for cooling the pistons at high-RPMs... the oil feed line is something entirely different.

And I wouldn't really recommend to anyone besides a very competent mechanic who wouldn't mind spending their weekends maintaining their car to build an LS/VTEC. Hell, I'd rather resleeve my B18C1 and tune that, and I'd make more power than a LS/VTEC and be tons more reliable.

And the B20 is a horrible base for high-power applications. Simple as that... some amazing results have been achieved through selecting the best components from several B20 blocks... but a B18C1 or C5 with 84.5mm sleeving would be FAR superior.

They already did have an AWD Integra in Japan... and it sucked.
