2 tell u the truth I think peepo made that set up to just be different from others....u should go with a GSR or TYPE-R motor and go from there.....that set up cost way too much to get it rite

It is indeed possible to build an LS/VTEC on the cheap and have it not blow up. If you put a VTEC head on an LS block and don't rev it any higher than when you had the LS head, you won't have any problems. Of course, the whole point of a VTEC head is that it makes more power at high rpm so you don't really get all the benefits. Obviously if you want to use the extra rpm capability of the VTEC head, the block is going to need some reinforcement to stand up to the abuse.
As for which method to employ when grafting the VTEC head onto the block, Golden Eagle makes a nifty kit that lets you install it with no machine work. I highly recommend it as the way to go when putting any sort of frankenstein B-series motor together.
