Automatic 1997 LS Advice (besides selling)
#21
Who says you can't use nitrous on the street? I was using 1/4 mile times to give him an idea of how much faster his car would be
Back on topic,
Crower makes a nice set of cams for the LS that won't ruin your streetability, I had a set of crower cams in my integra for 2 months, but then sold them and bought a turbo kit :-D
If you don't have the money to do things right on your car(not using cheap components) then you really shouldn't bother doing anything to it. People say it all the time, and they're not all talking out of their asses, you get what you pay for.
Get a nice suspension setup, not just springs, you need the shocks too, just keep your stock shocks and springs around for when it comes winter i guess, if you're going to be raising it back up.
If all you're really going to be planning on doing to the engine is I/E, it will purely be cosmetic, and will later on lower the value of your car if you leave them on. You won't be able to feel that 5-10 hp, and just for speed reference... you might gain a mph or 2 in the 1/4, along with 2 tenths of a second.
Check out www.JayDM.com and look at the Rota wheels they offer. They are cheap, lightweight, reliable, and very attractive to the eye. They have wheel/tire combos that nobody else on the net can compete with.
If I were in your position, I would do my suspension first, then worry about engine modifications later on down the road.

Third, you start having to worry about Mr. Police Officer getting rather upset that you have a hooked up and functioning nitrous system in your car, which is illegal in all 50 states AFAIK. You can have a fully functional system in your car on a daily basis, but if you connect it to your engine while you aren't at the track you can be in for a world of pain.

I see...
I am not talking about the Fast and the Furious Nitrous setup where you have to push engage buttons... I'm talking about a setup like the zex kits, where nitrous injection starts and ends at the engagement of full throttle. So it's not just straight line performance... weee.

Sounds like an awesome way to end up in a ditch to me.

Thanks again guys. I think you have convinced me about the suspension work on an auto is the way to go. Sounds like those changes will give me the biggest improvement on the car I have got. Thanks to all, this have picked up some good stuff from you guys.

Good to know you've decided on something!
And to the moderator..
I guess you don't accelerate out of your corners? If power would be too much, and would be causing you to lose traction, you wouldn't need the nitrous engaged anyway through the turn.
