Whistle

Whistle
I have a 1998 GS-R with 50K miles.
I noticed a slight, consistent whistle coming from the rear side of the engine the past couple days. Would some one be able to help me out? Belt related? It's not very loud, but I don't want to wait until it becomes annoyingly loud before addressing the problem.
Thanks. Happy Friday.

We did receive a fair amount of snow/ice/sludge this past week. Along with the snow there was plenty of salt. Might this have anything to do with the problem?

yeah i just didn't know if you had one or not. i dont think the salt would effect anything. maybe you're just paying more attention to it? or is it a pretty loud whistling? does it happen when your at WOT? or just driving normally?

UPDATE:
For shits and giggles I decided to spray a small amount of Valvoline Penetrating Spray Lubricant (love this stuff) on the belt closest to the firewall. Instantly the minor whistle vanished. So I'm thinking either my belt(s) need to be tightened/aligned or all that road salt dried out my belt(s).
Either way, I'll be coming up on my 60K mile service interval in 9K miles and they'll be covered then.
