Default Rota vs Volk

hello all, i have a small issue on my hand. i am currently looking for new rims to buy in the spring time, and the one i really like is the volk te37 gunmetal with polish lip. however they are like 2000 for a set. now my question is whats the big different from the knockoff verson from rota? both rims are fairly light and i dont think they look any different. well do they? only thing i notice is that rota grid's royal gunmetal looks like black to me. any comments would help me a lot. thanks for reading or helping! nite..

The biggest difference is weight and quality.

The Volks are going to be lighter, and they *are* stronger. But you have to decide if the extra 2 or 3lbs (or rather, less 2-3lbs) is worth the extra $1500 you'll spend for the Volks, compared to the $600 you'll spend for the Rota's.

I think most people will say that Knock Off's are terrible, and in most cases they are. Rota's however, are a good quality wheel, that is lightweight (not AS light as a Volk, but pretty damn close) and still very strong. I beat the hell out of my Rota Subzeros (CP035 Replicas) and even got flat tires and stuff, and never had a single bent rim. Some people have had issues here or there, but the same can be said for any non-super high quality wheel.

17", at 16.8lbs, strong and looking great, at ~$110/wheel -- you can't really go wrong. Go with Rota's.

Color wise, the colors are going to be off a tad bit. The Gun Metal is a little bit darker on the Rota's, and the Bronze is a little more brown, but they're still excellent looking finishes on the wheels.

yeah the color on the rota's are never the same. you could get black but get a dark gray i've seen it.but volks are deffintenly stronger and the weight will matter down the line. also if i bought volks it would be the last pair of rims i get.

Rota is about the only time I would consider buying a knock-off. Mainly because you can get four rims for the price of one volk. I say purchase the Rotas instead and use the saved money towards the performance aspect of the car.

I've seen a few broken rotas before, broke at the hub. A forged wheel will be much stronger than a cast wheel...Volk = forged, Rota = cast. The time and money spent on design of a Volk wheel is much greater than of a knockoff wheel like Rota. Rota makes an ok wheel, but Volk is better. If you don't want to spend the money on Volk, then go Rota. I would personally rather go Volk.

The Rota Grid in Royal Gunmetal with polished lip looks extremely similar to the LE37. There technically is no TE37 in gumetal...they only come in silver, white and bronze. The LE37 is the one that comes in gunmetal.

For ordinary purposes, the Rotas will be more than enough. Forged wheels have no value for most people other than they are "higher quality". If you do a ton of auto-xing, than you may want to think volk, but if they are just for looks or casual auto-xing/racing, rotas will do well.
