Default normal with oil change?

well i was out the other day and i needed an oil change. so i just went up to oil express to have them do it. everything went fine and then at the end he asked me if i did a motor swap or rebuilt the engine. i was like no, why? and he said, "well it took 4.3 quarts of oil to fill your engine to full, usually it only takes 3.9"

is this guy an idiot and not know his stuff? or did he over fill my car with oil? OR is that what it takes? 96 GSR by the way

I have a '96 GSR too and according to my manual, the car takes 4.2 quarts of oil when the filter is changed also; 3.9 quarts when the oil alone is changed.

It's been a long time since I went to an oil-change place. Can they really track how much oil they put in your engine?

I just remember a guy with a hose connected to a box on the wall that dispensed oil. Does he dial in the amount of oil a particular car needs, and dispense exactly 4.3 quarts? Or does he keep checking the dipstick when he gets close?

Anyhoo, looking forward to my next change. I plunked down a couple bucks for a magnetic oil drain bolt, and can't wait to put it into play!

I just have to say... Damn that's like the best avatar I've ever seen, kfar09.

Don't they look up what kind of engine you have first?
