Check your compression and run a leakdown before you assume you need a new engine. B series engines, if treated well, will last forever

ooo yeah if it didnt have so many miles i would say go turbo! but...since those miles are high, you should get the b18c over the H22...UNLESS... you have some haul ass good front suspension and good mounting for the H22 because the H22 is alot heavier and the dc4 chassis is meant to carry b18's weight not H22's. so if ur car is dropped and ur getting a H22 instead get a camber kit, and coilovers i recommend ZEAL or TEINs ^_^

I never understood the whole H22 in an Civic/Integra deal. Sure if you want to be "different", but you'll have alot more headaches than a smaller motor swap. You can make good power out of a b-series. Heck, you already have a nice motor to begin with.

h22a = torque monster y0 :wiggle: but yeah it will be hard.

ugh h22 ..
weights more
needs mount kits
cable shifter compared to our solid linkage
time + money.. waste
less parts made for the h22 over the b18's
parts being more expensive..

blah blah .. just do an compression test.. if it turns out ok.. turbo it

Are you sure it's a an LS VTEC? VTEC only came in the GSR's and the Type Rs, not in the LS. While it is possible to modify an LS with a VTEC head, it's a complicated procedure and I doubt a "blonde" who sold you the car for $3k would have had one. Pop your hood, and if the valve cover is flat black, you have an LS. If it says "DOHC VTEC," then I stand corrected.

Anyway, if you have a regular LS, I say turbo. It would probably be a bit cheaper than swapping in a B18c, and it will definitely give you more power. Like someone else said, just make sure to check out your engine beforehand to ensure that it can hold the boost.

Took the words right out of my mouth. An LS VTEC is a frankenstein motor. LS never came with VTEC, people just mod them that way. And I think if you had an LS VTEC I doubt it would last that many miles. The LS block just isn't designed to handle VTEC.

OH MY GOD, thank god somebody relized this.
as of what gorden has stated, and others have as well, get the compression test done to see what type of numbers your getting. And, why dont you try rebuiling the frankenstein motor if worse comes to worse. i mean, the person who you bought it from, saying that the motor is an ls/vtec, you could get some references off of them. but GOD, ls/vtec, holly crap.

you guys are telling him to do a compression check....well what numbers should you be looking for so u know ur engine can handle the boost??? Also, if ur that set on getting a swap, try and find a type r motor. same hp as the H22 with less weight. sure you might not get the same torque but think of it this way...the extra torque gets used to push the heavier motor

and note.. if u want to boost.. dont get an itr motor.. too expensive.. and the compression is too high.. leave the itr to be n/a.. dont ruin a good motor
