b16a is by far the best bang for the buck at half the price of a b18c1 swap. If you blingin then get the b18c1.

yea from an owner of an ls/vtec set up, if you don't have the money don't even attempt the ls/v, it's a great set up by all means with an amazing amount of torque. but if done RIGHT it's expensive. finding a b16 head or b18c5 or c1 head is quite easy, and pretty affordable, now labor and getting it installed properly, is going to cost you, your average ls/vtec set up is going to cost you about 2-3k considering you have a b18a block already the prices will probably vary.

the best thing money wise is probably the b16 but by all means if you have the money throw down for a b18c1, heck b18c5 if you want to be original throw in an ek9.

as for my set up, it wasn't just the motor, if you're not going to do a straight in and out motor swap, and you're taking off the head, you might as well build up the block, which is what i did, bored .25 over new pistons, rods, cams, etc. THAT's why an ls/vtec set up will cost more than most of those swaps, because of labor and the need for modding, you figure heck don't want to go through the hassel of taking off the head again to install some piston later down the road, so you dish out more money to get em installed now.

Yeah, it also has less torque then his factory B18A1. Don't bother.

B18C1.
