Default Brake Pads.. Which ones? dust sux

Which pads do you recommend..

Axxis Deluxe
Axxis Metal Master
EBC Green stuff
AEM
other

I currently run Porterfield R4-s pads.. they stop the car great.. I just can no longer stand the DUST! I have white rims.. but even before the white rims.. it was terrible.

I also autocross, so I am looking for a good performance pad, but I do not want dust. Is that too much to ask?!

I also am going to pick up a new set of PowerSlot rotors..

Where is a good place to get this for a good price also?
I know that www.inlinefour.com has good prices on the rotors.

Thanks,
justJOE

Slotted rotors don't really do much of anything with the stock brake system aside from look nifty from behind your wheels. If your rotors need to be replaced you might as well go with plain old Brembo replacement rotors that are available from tirerack.com for pretty cheap.

Unfortunately pretty much any performance pad is going to dust a pretty decent amount. AEM pads are pretty low dust but they're not going to provide you with the same stopping power as the Porterfields. You might want to try out Hawk HPS--they're more of a performance pad than AEM and are pretty reasonable in the amount of dust they make. And yup, tirerack.com has pretty nice prices on Hawk pads.

I know that if I want less dust that I will have to sacrifice some performance.
I am just sick of the dust.

As far as the rotors.. does anyone else have experience with a Slotted rotor? I do not want drilled (although they look nice, I know they are prone to cracking.)

thanks
joe

I've been running the Axxis Metal Master pads both front and rear for a few months now...the dusting is only nominally more than the old stock pads. They are a little noiseier, but it's worth it IMO for the extra stopping power.

I have the axxis ultimates, and they dust a fair bit. Try spraying your wheels with a light coating of PAM(Yes the stuff for cooking. The brake dust will wash off easier, but your car will still look dirty

My Ultimates dust pretty bad too, but I dont really mind.

Your best bet for low dust would be cheap Autozone type pads or AEM.

I have metal masters and they dust way too much. When they finally go thin, I'm gonna switch to my AEM's. Though I don't really notice the dust that much now that I have gunmetal wheels.

Does anyone have expeience with EBC's??

As far as AEM's I have heard that they are good about the dusting. Just not the best on braking.

if your a daily driver.. i would just use some autozone rotors and the brake pads of your chloice. Or maybe just use autozone brake pads.. life time warranty and much cheaper.. just a thought..
