Default Best Performance tires with thread life in mind.

In your own opinion, what is the best Performance tire with the Highest Tread Life for under $80 a piece. My prioritys are set, Handling and Treadlife are my major concerns, then there are warranty's, price, and Road Noise.

Here are some of the tires I am looking at, with my own pros and cons:

-Falken Azenis (Fairly Expensive, Excellent Grip, low tread life, could use some more grip on wet roads, noticable road noise.)

-Yokohama AVS ES100 ($77/Piece, Grip levels Comparable to the Falken's, low tread life, better than Falkens on wet pavements, noticeable road noise.)

-Yokohama AVID V4S ($73/Piece, Good Enough Grip for daily Driver, Excellent Tread life, rated at 60,000 Miles, all-season, softer ride and less road noise.)

To describe my styles of driving:

-Daily Driver
-Rarely Drive Hard because of Tickets

I have also been doing some thinking, since I do not drive hard very often, I think it is best for me to get normal passenger tires that would last a very, very long time. Although tires are recomended to be changed in 2-4 years depending on levels of driving, I probably would not rack up 60k miles in 4 years, and the Yokohama AVID V4S seem like a nice matchup.

What do you guys think?

First of all, the ES100 will last far longer than the Azenis.

I'm assuming you are looking at size 205/50-15. I would look at the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712 or Yokohama AVS ES100. The Yokohamas will grip noticeably better than the Kumhos but the Kumhos are cheaper and last longer.

The Yokohama Avid is an all-season tire and will provide far less dry traction than the above two tires because it is designed to provide snow traction. Given that you live in Arizona I suspect that is not something you really need to worry about.

ES100's all the way. Those grip better than a lot of perf only tires i've used / seen, and are cheap as hell too.

I have never seen a bad review on the Yok Es100's, and i used them on my GS-R. You wont be dissapointed

I actually have seen some pretty bad reviews about all the tires I have mentioned, although they are on different cars. My Stock tires are 195/55/15, so should i go with 205/55 or 205/50?

To APhex: How long does the ES100s last on your car, and wat is your driving style?

I agree with Mike, and would go with the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. I put these on last spring and I think they are an awesome tire. And from what you describe as your driving style I drive the same way and have been very pleased with them. They are also not a very noisy tire.

Alrite, I have decided to go with the Kumho Ecsta Supra 712. I have no idea how long it would last, but for the price to value ratio of these tires I think it be worth a try. $53 a piece, before shipping though. What size tires would you recomend on 15" Rims, my stock's are 195/55/15, so should I go with the same size or 205/55, 205/50?

depends the 205/50's are wider andwill give you more traction better for handeling launching etc but up in the speeds iwll slow u down jsut a little bit from the more traction

Like 15k, and i drive vigorously.

To explain, i live on the top of a mountain, its about a mile to get to the bottom. Every day I have to go up and down a couple times, and every time its a really fun mountain course. There are plenty of turns every time where i definitally reduced tirewear life dramatically
