RS*R Exhaust has arrived.
#24
Well, yeah, those damn cat-midpipe bolts were a sonofabitch!
On Thursday, I got the rear-section muffler off without too much trouble, but I simply didn't have the resources to defeat the debauchle of rust on the car-midpipe.
So today, I ended up taking it to a shop that my old man knew of, and we told his friend who works there just to cut the cat-mid bolts, that we could do the rest.
So he did, and then he said because he had never seen this sort of exhaust before out of all the "coffee-can exhausts he puts on for the kids" he just threw on the new one for no charge.
Not a bad way to spend 40 bucks
So while I didn't entirely do it myself due to lack of resources, it is on there, and running like a champ.
How should I describe the sound? Indifferent from stock except during idle, when it runs a bit deeper.
I'm serious when I say I can not tell the difference between stock and RS*R sound at ANY level. Maybe it will get deeper/louder after the "break in period".
Performance-wise, I can tell a difference, but by how much I couldn't say. It is definately noticeable above/around 4k, and a bit torquier it seems under 4k.
Filled up on the way home and a couple of guys came over to look at it... it's definately a large tip, 4 inches, but it's so stealth-like it's very nice.
If the exhaust tone doesn't change at all I wouldn't care at all. I am very glad I decided to keep my profile on the low-down with this system. I would definately recommend it to anyone looking NOT to get noticed because of noise, but to get noticed because they have something different and low-key while still providing good street-level performance.
Pics comparing size of stock to RS*R soon....

i dont think the sound of my exhaust has changed from the day i installed it
the sound has been very similar since i installed it...smooth understated before 4400....then upwards of that deep but not to loud
