Default need advice about oil leak

i noticed that my trans is covered in a thin layer of oil and from what i can see it looks like its leaking somwhere from the middle to the rear area of the head. it also smells like oil if i get on it for a few gears. does anyone know where it could be leaking from?

Check the oil gaskets around the distributor and the cam seal plug...

Clean it off and watch when you rev it, but it may only do it under a load

pop the hood and move the throttle rotor with your hand.

What Epoch said.
Distrib & Cam Seal areas are notorious for leaks. Mine's been leaking at the cam seal end of the head for the last 30-, ok, 50 thousand miles. Nothing major, just clean it occasionally with a paper towel before it gets funky on the side of the head.

JLAUDIO: you can grab the throttle cable at the throttle body to "rev while you watch", if you were into "watching" :naughty:

:eek3: If it's at the head, or near the head, then he really wouldn't have to be under the engine to see it well. Anyways, I'm willing to bet money that it's the cam seal plug, cause that thing leaks like a BITCH...
