best to turbo in my mind would be the b20b/z, simply because the low end torque of it will make up for the turbo lag in the lower RPM's. But, the only downfall of the b20 would be the lack of vtec. But, to make up for both shortcomings, you could get a b20b/z block with a b18c head, and then you'd have the best of both worlds.

Depends... If you have the funds, i would go gsr all the way. Block is better inforced and you would yeild more hp with the b18c1.

Um yeah as far as reccomendations go you're going to have to be a little more specific here with what you're trying to achieve. Oh also using a little bit of capitalization and punctuation couldn't hurt our ability to understand what you're trying to talk about.

(little off topic) is the time and effort of the whole b20 block worth it? wouldn't you be better off just going turbo on you stock engine? or is it some kind of pissing contest?

Since your car is a '90 it's non-OBD. That means that if you want to run an OBD-I ECU then you will have to do some rewiring and change the plugs on your ECU harness. You can get basically any VTEC motor you want and can run it reasonably well however with an ECU from a non-OBD JDM car with a B16. These are the PR3 and PW0 ECUs. They will plug up to your harness but require a few wires to be added. The B20 can be run fine by your stock ECU.

Your car has a cable clutch so you have to use either your stock transmission or a cable-actuated transmission from the same cars you would get the ECU from.

As for turbo choice that depends a lot on how much you want to spend and how much power you want to make.

Well, in the case of a thirteen year old car it's not a bad idea to replace or rebuild the motor anyway before slapping the turbo on. So in that case the B20 is not much more of an expense and it gets you the extra displacement.

b20's can be found for 700-800, so its a very economical swap, especially if you're on a budget. the only downside, in my opinion, to the b20 is that its an suv class engine, making you fail visual smog inspections anywhere u go.

i drove a b20 integra the other day and its definitely a big improvement over the LS. I like GSR's too but when people say b20's are torquey, they're not kidding.

What do you mean fail visual smog inspections. I live in North Carolina do they even do that. Also what suv would a B-20 end up coming out of.
