You California guys always assume the rest of the country is stuck with your extra restrictive smog laws. 
In Maryland for example, you don't even have to pop the hood of the car. They get the VIN off the dash, put the drive wheels on rollers and stick a sniffer on the tail pipe. That's it. The emissions test in North Carolina is probably similar.

Well for 96 and newer they dont even do that. Only for 96 and newer do they do the roller thing. Which rocks cause all i need is a muffler and these guys in the backwoods pass it.
