You could clear that out with a resonator or a 2nd muffler.

I'm going to be building myself a dual muffler system soon.
right now he has a 17" resonator on it i think, but he said he shoulda went with a longer resonator.

What I would do is remove the resonator and replace it with a Thermal R&D round universal muffler.

I'm planning to use a Thermal 2.5" inlet round 6" diameter 14" long muffler with custom piping to an RSR Exmag axleback for the street, and then use straight pipes behind the Thermal for strip.

Any canister-style muffler including the skunk2 is probably going to be too loud for what this guy wants.

I've been debating this. I was at least planning on doing the CAI myself, obviously.

I'm no mechanic (knowledge-wise), but am no stranger to the wrench or ratchet. I just haven't done much car work myself, and since I live in a townhouse I don't really have a place to work. I do have a friend with a garage who only uses it for car-work, so I might be able to borrow his for an afternoon. God knows I've fixed his computer enough times...

Will this be tough to do in a garage with no lift, though? How hairy would the header job be? Do I have to rip out other stuff to get to it?

Plenty of people install their own bolt on mods which cuts the installation costs rather significantly.

all you need basically is a jack/jackstands, basic hand tools, and a can of penetrating oil makes things easier. be prepared for a few rusted bolts.
